REPAIR AND RESTORATION WORK ON ALL SAINTS CHURCH

The limited programme of work started just after Easter and the rendering has been removed from both the inside and outside of the west wall and the scaffolding on the outside has been sheeted over to allow the wall to thoroughly dry out.   The scaffolding has recently been extended to allow work oh the coping stones and roof at the west end.   This programme of work has to be within the financial resources we have available at present, gift aid still stands at £20,025 but the fund raising, donations and gifts total has risen to just over £20,800.   Thanks for all your help.

In order to re-arrange and accommodate all the equipment that we had at the back of the church we got temporary approval to remove two pews and this has been so successful that the PCC has now decided to seek approval to remove a further three, one more on the organ side and two on the other side with some of the pews removed being relocated with their backs to the walls on the south side and at the west end but of course this cannot be done until the work on the walls has been completed.   It will also make more space available for community use of the church, ie. recitals, concerts, meetings and other functions and, hopefully, make it easier to get financial aid from organisations with a community theme.

Cornwall Historic Churches Sponsored Event Day - Saturday 8th September

We will always be grateful for anyone who can walk, cycle or ride on that day as in the past.   However for those of us less able to take on such a physically active role, how about having a sponsored 'knit - in' in the Church, of squares for a blanket, or smaller squares for a cushion cover.   Perhaps those of the men/non knitters could do some sponsored maintenance around the Church or Churchyard before Harvest Festival the following week - or even make teas or coffees for the knitters.   It would be fun, and would keep the Church manned that day for any sponsored callers.
