                                    followed by Songs of Praise at 6.30pm in the Church and then by jacket potatoes

                                    from the Bonfire in the Glebe Field.

                                    to include tea/coffee and biscuits.

Saturday 11th August     Summer Fete at 2.30pm in the Old Vicarage Garden, or in the Church if the                                                 weather is bad.

Note:                            Other events are being considered and details will be announced in due
                                    course.

                                    The Invitation Hymn Singing Evening on 17th May has been postponed due to
                                     the Foot and Mouth crisis.

 REPAIR AND RESTORATION WORK ON ALL SAINTS CHURCH

  We have just heard that work should start on a limited programme of work just after Easter.

This work will be concentrated on the western end of the Church and will be within the financial resources we have available at present, ie. grant aid of £20,025 and fund raising, gifts and donations of just over £19,000.   The Church repair grant promised in the Chancellor's budget should help reduce the effect of VAT at 17½% thus freeing up more money for the actual work but we do not yet know how, precisely, this will be operated, for example we may have to pay the full VAT rate and then claim back the difference.

However, we still have a lot more money to raise for the full programme of work but at least we should be able to see some results from the efforts that you have all made during these past two years - thank you all so much.  

We shall soon be seeking volunteer help for various things that have to be done in and around the church before the work starts.

Due to the limited access to the Church it is inevitable that contractors will have to unload equipment, scaffolding etc. and there will be times when Church Hill will be blocked whilst off-loading takes place.

To the best of our knowledge this will be from Tuesday 17th April onwards, the contractors will be advised that Church Hill is one of the main routes into and out of the village and be asked to keep the road as clear as possible but delays will occur and for this we apologise in advance.
